May 2024 - Pete Jones (Seneca) taught Tuscarora citizens the craft of making Haudenosaunee-syle clay pipes. These pipes were used during a Condolance Ceremony later that month where new Chiefs and Clanmothers were installed by the Confederacy. In exchange for the lesson, we gave Pete a braid of ceremonial corn, grown on the territory of the Tuscarora Nation.
June 2024 - the Tuscarora Nation hosted the Spring gathering of Braiding the Sacred. A grassroots organization of Inigenous growers centered on Corn.
July 2024 - The Deskaheh Exhibition was curated by the Haudenosaunee as part of a celebration in Geneva Switzerland in July 2023.
In order to bring this project to the Haudenosaunee homelands, I collaborated with Tuscarora Woodworks on the design, construction and installation of the reproduced project. Displayed at the annual Great Law of Peace recital.
